You Can Lead A Horse...

You Can Lead A Horse...

When I first began in the therapy field, I was fortunate to have a mentor that was wise beyond his years.  He was open to learning, growing and change and he pushed me to do the same.  I have always been OPEN and that is why the Universe has afforded me many priceless growth opportunities.  Dr. VJ Reddy said to me on my first week with patients ~ "You, my dear, are not that special."  I was floored.  Many years later, it puts a smile on my face because I know what he was teaching me.  No matter how good I am at my job or how passionate I am about growth ~ people change when it hurts bad enough and not until.   All people choose their life and even if it is miserable, some stay there because it is familiar.   My role as a therapist is to be available when they are ready.  Individuals must do the work or the lesson is never learned.  And, a lesson that is not learned repeats itself until it is.

The hardest part of therapy and sometimes life is stepping away and allowing the pain to force change.   Change is good but not everyone is capable or willing.  Blessings!
