A More Powerful You is designed to restore a sense of power to your life. Everyone, from time to time, struggles with feeling a little out of control or “crazy” and yet, not everyone needs a therapist. This very simple system will help you identify problem areas in your life and fix them on your own. The key to restored health is to gain perspective. A therapists’ role is to see a client’s problem from the outside looking in and give some feedback and assistance to help sort things out. Using this system, you will be able to dissect any problem and move towards endless possibility.
There are 5 aspects to A More Powerful You”. Each section is as important as any other. They all fit together and must be used in conjunction with each other. You can try to skip steps but what you will find is you end up back in the problem phase again and again. So, I recommend spending the time on each section and not selling yourself short. And, then…practice, practice, practice!
One of the most important aspects of learning to control your life is managing who/what is in your circle. It is very important to see this, so you can sort and move to gain a sense of control.
Continuum of Emotion helps you to evaluate where you are with your emotion. It allows you to become more aware of the power you give your feelings and track your progress.
Discovering your core beliefs is crucial to gaining control over your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Happiness comes from a sense of control over these aspects of your life.
Exploring yourself and the feelings you hold deep inside about your abilities is imperative to identify what you need to work on. A strong sense of self comes from practicing self-talk and establishing different beliefs about your abilities.
Understanding the pieces in your current puzzle will allow you to further identify some underlying areas that may need some work. This is a very physical step that allows you to rewrite your story.
There are homework assignments with each lesson. These are very important! A very big part of gaining perspective requires you seeing your own “stuff”. You cannot do this without completing the assignments. Some have tried and most have failed and ended up coming back to me for guidance because it was too hard. The key to change is … YOU have to do it yourself in order for it to benefit you. This is, in short, why most therapy sessions end in frustration and failure. The therapist can help with specific situations but unless you want to be in therapy the rest of your life – you must learn the skills. Once you learn the skills – you are armed for the rest of your life.
“A More Powerful You” is something that works for all situations and no one can take it from you – ever.
