Resiliency

I met a fantastic, quite delightful young girl this month and I haven't stopped thinking about how much she could teach the world.  She made me smile from ear to ear.  She came to therapy because "They say I have issues."  They being some adults in her life.  I totally get why they might think that she may need someone to talk to - and I am grateful she picked me - but ... if these were your numbers, how would you act?

3 siblings in foster care - separate homes

8 months old when she came into care

8 years old when her biological dad died

10+ foster homes 

12 years old when biological mom died

20+ court hearings

7 social workers

8 schools

9 counselors

1 dream to be successful in her life

0 drugs

0 alcohol

0 excuses

My decision ... to be one of the people she remembers believing in her enough to guide her towards her dream.
