What is YOUR Story?
As you read these blog entries, it will become obvious to you that one reason I can help you is because I have done the work and changed my life. We all have a story. What is your story? Get out a piece of paper and write down 5 significant events that have shaped you to this date. These events will be useful in helping you to unlock your possibilities and change your life. Why write them down? Today is an important day in your life and how you see things today is a starting place. Tomorrow will be different - that is for sure. Everything changes with time but the 5 things you write down have not changed in your mind if you are still telling the same story to yourself and others. It defines you. So, if you want to change - we need to look at your definition of self.
What messages did you receive as a child? What did you see your parents doing? Were they worried? Angry? Overreactors? Did they abandon you or sabotage your success? Were you noticed and cared for? What messages did you receive about goals, resposibilty, love, money? How did your family deal with stress?
Your story is written by the events that have happened to you. The good and the bad. How you handled the events that happened to you have become part of your belief system. Your belief system creates your automatic thoughts and your emotional and behavioral reactions.
As you write your story, remember that this is a starting point - not the ending. We will re-write your story together using the techniques shared here in the blog. That means - you get a do over. You can change your story and your life. Do the work!!
