Let It Bounce!

For someone who has worked with me in therapy, the ball has a special meaning.  I use a ball frequently to show people what not to do in life - DON'T CATCH THE BALL!  I have thrown many balls at clients trying to teach them to not react and . . . let it bounce.  As you organize and restructure your "Circle of Control" this is one of the most important things to remember and one of the hardest habits to break. I tell clients "You need to become rubber!"  

 

And. . . the same ball represents resiliency.  You must bounce when something knocks you down.  Bounce, so you can get back up.  The only thing that can keep you down is your perception of the problem and your attitude about your ability to recover.
