A Look In The Mirror

The most important words you will ever hear is your internal dialogue.  What in the heck is that? It is your inner voice.  The voice that tells you your worth, your next steps, encourages or discourages you.  Most people who struggle with anxiety or depression have a negative internal dialogue.  It sounds a little like this..."I am not OK!" " No one loves me."  "I can't do this."   Your internal dialogue is usually active and some of you may recognize it as racing thoughts at bedtime, the constant distraction, self sabotage or the struggle to "figure it all out."   

One of the best ways to treat anxiety and depression is to change your internal dialogue. This takes work and time because your internal dialogue is developed over time and it is based on your beliefs, interactions with others, perception and experiences.  

My best advice is:  Go to the mirror.  Do not look at the reflection in the mirror ~ look deep into your eyes.  You need to see into your soul to make these changes.  You MUST believe yourself when you say these phrases:  

  1.  I am ok.
  2. I got this!  
  3. I deserve good things.
  4. I can do this!
  5. I am worthy.
  6. I control the outcome. 

Repeat as often as needed.  Initially, I tell people to say this atleast 5 times a day (when you go to the bathroom).  

I remind them that it took a long time for their internal dialogue to be negatively fixed so changing it to positive will take some time.  It does matter how often you practice this, how deep you look into yourself and if you believe it's possible to be happy.
